Obtain Legal Counsel from Our Sex Crimes Defense Lawyer

Public indecency, also known as indecent exposure, is one of the most commonly charged sex crimes in the nation. While this type of offense is not as serious as other sex crimes, you must register as a sex offender if found guilty. Being classified as a sex offender can make it difficult to obtain employment, as well as rent or purchase a home.

At Chiapelli Law Offices, we understand what it takes to obtain the legal outcome you desire. Serving Chicago and surrounding neighborhoods, our criminal defense attorneys possess the comprehensive knowledge of Illinois laws and court processes to get your charges reduced or your case thrown out entirely.

Public Indecency / Indecent Exposure Penalties

According to Illinois law, 720 ILCS 5/11-9, the crime of public indecency applies to individuals who are 17 years old and above and will be charged if a person forms an act of sexual penetration or other sexual conduct, or lewd exposure of the body with intent to arouse or satisfy sexual desires. Public indecency is considered a Class 4 felony, which is punishable by a prison sentence between one and three years and a fine of up to $25,000.
